MCOD awards five scholarships
Durham students write on multiculturalism
DECEMBER 6, 2010 - The Multicultural Council of Oshawa Durham (MCOD) is pleased to recognize five Durham Region students with scholarships of $1,000 each.
The MCOD invited high-school students from across Durham Region to write on the topic "Multiculturalsim and What it Means to Me" as part of its 30th anniversary. Submissions were judged on content, organization, spelling, grammar and style.
The scholarship recipients are: Abir Arefin of Whitby, Renee Hum-Hsiao of Whitby, Adeel Khan of Oshawa, Tanvi Medhekar of Whitby and Nikhil Sethi of Oshawa. You can read they essays by clicking the corresponding author's name.
The five recipients will be presented with their scholarships at a luncheon on December 12, at 1 p.m., at the Ajax Convention Centre
