MCOD president calls on groups to champion multiculturalism
DECEMBER 12, 2010 - Multicultural Council of Oshawa Durham (MCOD) president Omar Wisdom says Canadians are lucky in the fact that there is a wonderful opportunity to share in various cultures without having to jump on a plane.
Speaking at an event honouring five Durham Region students with scholarships of $1,000 each, the MCOD president said Canada has the best potluck parties "featuring dishes with names I cannot pronounce. But I do know they always taste good."
Mr. Wisdom called on community leaders to join the MCOD's commitment to championing multiculturalism and diversity in Durham Region. "The sooner we accomplish this goal, the sooner we can focus on the reason why immigration was implemented ... to make our Canada the greatest country on Earth."
